In this role, you will spearhead the design, development, and deployment of intelligent systems that address challenging business problems across various sectors including Financial Services, Manufacturing, and Energy & Utilities. This position is not just about research or support; you'll take ownership of the entire ML solution lifecycle, from defining problems to deploying in production, while leading a team of talented engineers and data scientists. Your work will be impactful; think forecasting models that influence multi-million-dollar decisions or AI systems that streamline complex workflows. You'll engage with Fortune 500 clients seeking partners who can deliver substantial results. In your first year, you might oversee a demand forecasting system for a leading manufacturer, manage an intelligent processing pipeline for a financial firm, or architect energy grid simulations—all while nurturing the next generation of ML professionals at Huron. What You'll Do Lead and mentor junior ML engineers and data scientists —offer technical guidance, conduct code reviews, and promote continuous learning and high-quality engineering practices.
Manage complex multi-workstream ML projects —oversee planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines while ensuring technical excellence and quality standards are met.
Design and architect end-to-end ML solutions —from data pipelines and feature engineering to model training, evaluation, and production deployment.
Develop traditional and generative AI systems —including supervised/unsupervised learning, time-series forecasting, and NLP applications using frameworks like Agent Framework or LangChain.
Build financial and operational models —for demand forecasting, pricing optimization, risk scoring, and process automation.
Establish MLOps best practices —define and implement CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, monitoring, and automated retraining standards.
Act as a trusted advisor to clients —forge long-lasting partnerships, understand their challenges, and translate business needs into technical solutions.
Contribute to practice development —engage in business development, create reusable assets, and help shape Huron's DSML capabilities.
Required Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on experience
in building and deploying ML solutions in production, having transitioned models from development to operational environments.
Proven leadership in developing technical teams , including mentorship and performance management to build high-performing groups.
Strong programming skills in Python and JavaScript
with deep experience in the ML ecosystem and web app development.
Solid foundation in ML fundamentals —including supervised and unsupervised learning, feature engineering, and model evaluation.
Experience with cloud ML platforms
like Azure Machine Learning, as well as familiarity with AWS SageMaker or Google AI Platform.
Proficient in data platforms
such as SQL, Snowflake, or Databricks for working with large datasets and data pipeline architecture.
Familiarity with LLMs and generative AI , including prompt engineering and understanding the capabilities of such technologies.
Excellent communication and client management skills —the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and build trusted relationships.
Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field
(Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, etc.) or equivalent practical experience.
Willingness to travel approximately 30% to client sites .
Preferred Qualifications Experience in Financial Services, Manufacturing, or Energy & Utilities sectors.
Background in applications related to forecasting or financial modeling.
Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or Tensorflow.
Familiarity with MLOps tools like MLflow.
Contributions to open-source projects or knowledge of open-source ML tools.
Experience building agentic AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain.
Cloud certifications (Azure AI Engineer, AWS ML Specialty, etc.) are a plus.
Consulting experience and versatility across domains.
Master's degree or PhD in a relevant field.
