About the Role

At JDC Power Systems, LLC, our customers count on us to keep critical electrical infrastructure running. As a Power Systems Field Service Specialist (FSR3), you'll be the expert on-site—diagnosing issues, restoring operation, and guiding customers through the systems that power their facilities.

A Day in the Field

You start your day reviewing a service ticket: a facility reports intermittent trips on their LV/MV switchgear. You arrive, walk down the system with the customer, then dive into diagnostics—testing transformers, inspecting circuit breakers, reviewing PLC controls, and using your meter and breaker test set. You isolate the issue, perform the repair, run verification tests, and document results. Later, you assist with commissioning a new system, confirm it meets specifications, and train operators on basic maintenance. Between stops, you collaborate with teammates, update time and parts used, and close out reports in the field service system.

What You'll Tackle
  • On-site troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems: transformers, circuit breakers, LV/MV switchgear, and PLC-based controls.
  • System diagnostics to minimize downtime and optimize performance; apply remote troubleshooting tools when appropriate.
  • Support startups and commissioning; verify operation and alignment to customer requirements.
  • Serve as the primary contact during service visits; clearly explain findings and solutions.
  • Deliver basic end-user training on operation and preventive maintenance.
  • Produce complete service documentation, including test reports and performance feedback.
  • Maintain precise time, work, and on-site inventory records.
  • Coordinate with fellow technicians to ensure timely, high-quality service.
  • Work safely—follow JDC procedures, OSHA standards, and industry best practices; participate in required safety training and keep certifications current.
What You Bring
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline preferred.
  • Certifications: NFPA 70E, OSHA 30, or similar technical credentials are a plus.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in field service focused on power systems, electrical equipment, or industrial controls, including troubleshooting and repair of transformers and circuit breakers.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic mindset; proficiency with field service management tools, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel/Word; clear customer communication; ability to independently prioritize in a fast-moving environment.
Bonus Skills
  • Hands-on work with low and medium voltage systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA platforms, and protective relays.
Other Requirements
  • Frequent travel with overnight stays to customer sites and JDC locations nationwide.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
  • Comfort using standard test equipment (e.g., multimeters, breaker test sets).
