This role requires 2 days per week onsite within the ATL area.

As a communications professional, you know how to inform and engage key audiences and help promote an organization's desired reputation. Blu Omega is looking for an experienced communications specialist like you, who is ready to grow and willing to win for the client and live our mission every day. Here, you'll use your skills to design, develop, produce, and advise on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

We need a communications specialist to join our team where you will impact the development of creative solutions to complex problems. Your self-guided yet collaborative spirit will shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients. You'll engage with subject matter experts to author alert communications, platform releases, newsletters, integrated dashboards, recurring deliverables, and virtual learning sessions. Your creative-thinking and business-oriented mindset will guide your client to inform key audiences through words, images, and sound with tools like Adobe Campaign Manager, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Microsoft 360 services including SharePoint, Power BI, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stakeholder Communication & Engagement:
    Manage communications campaigns from end to end, collaborating across functional teams to implement system- or process-based solutions.
  • Formulate change management plans and activities to support client initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate strategies and key messages in clear and concise language using a variety of communication materials and media.
  • Change Management & Implementation:
    Apply change management processes and tools to create strategies to support the adoption of changes required by a project or initiative.
  • Identify, analyze, and prepare risk mitigation tactics and integrate change management activities into the project plan.
  • Monitor, measure, and provide feedback on process change performance, coordinating with users and documenting information elicited.
  • Content Development & Delivery:
    Design, develop, produce, and consult on a variety of internal and external communication materials and media that support public health data exchange and modernization.
  • Author alert communications, platform releases, newsletters, integrated dashboards, recurring deliverables, and virtual learning sessions.
  • Draft communications about complex technical information with diverse stakeholders across business and technical organizations.
  • Relationship Building & Guidance:
    Shape and nurture relationships with team members, stakeholders, and clients.
  • Develop rollout strategies, focus groups, pilots, technology adoption campaigns, and other effective communication methods to meet program goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback to system support teams and review technical documentation.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, people management, or client relationships.
  • Experience with developing change management strategies and executing plans to improve the adoption of new technology products, programs, or policies.
  • Experience with writing, editing, verbal communications, and communications planning while adhering to organizational approval and clearance processes.
  • Experience with researching issues, developing expertise, and drafting concise messaging or talking points to accurately convey key messages and manage risks.
  • Experience with preparing leaders or managers for engagements with key constituents or stakeholders.
  • Experience in facilitating virtual workshops/training.
  • Experience with harnessing AI-based platforms to enhance clarity, consistency, and reach of communications.
  • Experience in strategic communications for IT system implementation planning.
  • Experience with Web content management systems, including SharePoint, WordPress, or Digital First Editor.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, public health analysts, or scientists.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Local to Atlanta, GA.

Nice If You Have:
Experience with the CDC and its senior leadership offices.

  • Experience with CDC personnel and readiness organizations and offices.
  • Experience with writing and editing material in a journalistic style for publication on workforce messages and newsletters.
  • Possession of excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Master's degree in political science, Communications, Public Relations, or Journalism.
