Job Summary
The Plumbing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, performance, and development of the plumbing department. This role requires a strong blend of technical plumbing expertise, sales proficiency, and leadership skills. The Plumbing Manager ensures high-quality workmanship, delivers exceptional customer service, supports revenue growth, and trains plumbers to excel both technically and in service-based sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all plumbing technicians and apprentices, ensuring productivity, professionalism, and adherence to company standards.
- Develop department goals aligned with company objectives for revenue, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor job quality, callbacks, and workmanship to maintain 5-star service standards.
- Serve as the technical expert for plumbing diagnostics, repairs, installations, and code compliance.
- Provide onsite and remote support to technicians for complex jobs or escalated issues.
- Ensure all work meets local code, manufacturer specifications, and safety requirements.
- Review and approve job scopes, parts lists, and installation plans.
- Train technicians on effective service-based sales, including:
- Conduct regular ride-alongs, coaching sessions, and performance evaluations.
- Support technicians in achieving sales goals through proper job evaluation and customer communication.
- Review estimates, proposals, and job costing to ensure accuracy and profitability.
- Coach plumbers on presenting Good/Better/Best options and recommending long-term solutions.
- Monitor KPIs such as: Average ticket, Close rate, Revenue per technician
- Implement strategies to increase department revenue while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all plumbers follow company values, communication standards, and service protocols.
- Resolve customer complaints, job issues, or escalations promptly and professionally.
- Conduct job audits and follow-ups to ensure customer satisfaction and proper workmanship.
- Collaborate with Dispatch, Install Coordination, and Management to ensure smooth workflow.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new plumbing staff.
- Enforce company policies, safety guidelines, and professional standards.
- Maintain inventory oversight and ensure proper use of materials and tools.
Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of plumbing experience (journeyman-level preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of residential plumbing systems, codes, and repair techniques.
- Proven experience in service-based sales within the plumbing or home services industry.
- Prior leadership, coaching, or management experience.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred:
- Previous management or lead technician role.
- Experience training apprentices or technicians.
- Familiarity with ServiceTitan or similar field service software.
Pay: $66, $180,000.00 per year
