Department Manager Diagnostic Imaging

Provides day-to-day management and oversees diagnostic imaging operations and testing across all Heritage Medical Associates (HMA) facilities according to state and federal guidelines and regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees and manages the daily operations of diagnostic imaging departments at all HMA locations.
  • Oversees the quality of images, continuing education and licensure for personnel performing radiographic images.
  • Manages and oversees staffing, planning daily work schedules to ensure efficient patient flow and utilization of equipment.
  • Observes, counsels, performs evaluations (90 Day and 1 Year), and competencies for all diagnostic imaging employees (technologists, schedulers and medical receptionists) that directly report to this position.
  • Oversees and handles all aspects of accreditation associated with all modalities in compliance with regulatory requirements established by HMA, ACR, MQSA, and state/federal government.
  • Maintains and cultures a relationship with Radiology Alliance/RAD Partners.
  • PACs administration
  • Serve as the Radiation Officer for the department, overseeing radiation exposure monitoring and quality assurance programs.
  • Participates in special projects and assignments requested by the Director of Ancillary Operations.
  • Handles patient, employee or provider complaints/concerns and communicates in a timely manner to appropriate leadership.
  • Oversees time clock system check for accuracy, make corrections and sign off biweekly.
  • Oversee the ordering of supplies and medications make sure staff is maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and the integration of new imaging technologies.
  • Maintain all equipment service contracts
  • Invoice management.
  • Build and maintain a strong relationship with physicians, providers and staff.
  • Establish a team atmosphere within department as well as support any interactions with other departments and facilities.
Secondary Responsibilities:
  • Work with business office staff to ensure all paperwork and documentation is received to ensure proper posting of charges for all diagnostic testing.
  • Adhere to Service Standards.
  • Work closely with Director of Ancillary Operations and CMO to develop and implement necessary protocols.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by Director of Ancillary Operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Oversees all diagnostic imaging staff including technologists, scheduler and medical receptionists
QualificationsEducation/ Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or graduation from an accredited Radiology Technology Program
  • Experience in multiple modalities (other than X-Ray); with 5 years specifically in management of staff.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Requirements:
  • Valid State Radiologic Technologist registration
  • Healthcare Provider BLS Certification

Advanced knowledge and ability to perform multiple modalities (other than X-Ray).

Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.

Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Skill in using various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.

Ability to maintain quality control standards.

Ability to recognize problems and recommend solutions; to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Ability to communicate clearly.

Strong computer knowledge required.

Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to stand for 8 to 10 hours a day
  • Requires regular walking, bending, pushing, pulling and lifting
  • Must be able to lift at least 15lbs
  • Must be able to assist patients with transfers from chair to wheelchair, to exam tables and back to wheelchair/chair
  • Must be able to assist patient with turning positioning on exam table
  • Must be able to push the patient wheelchair
  • Must be able to manipulate objects reaching, grasping and handling
  • Must exhibit good communication skills understood, respond and translate into action.
Work Environment:
  • Clinical setting; exposure to communicable diseases, medical preparations and other conditions common to a clinical environment.
