*Your role as a Charge Nurse: *
The LPN/RN Charge Nurse is responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and coordinate care for residents. Such duties include: participating in establishing specific goals; ensuring compliance with all operating policies and procedures and federal and state regulations; communicating with and supervising staff; providing daily reports and other reports as required; and performing all the duties of a certified medicine technician, when required.
*Essential Functions:*
* Perform various duties to provide quality nursing care to residents.
* Help residents maintain or attain the highest practical level of functioning.
* Ensure compliance with nursing care standards, policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
* Coordinate and oversee nursing care for residents through assessment and observation.
* Clearly and effectively communicate with the resident, their physician, family members, and facility administration any changes in condition or concerns.
* Administer medications and treatments to residents. Ensure medications, supplies, and equipment are available and/or ordered.
* Maintain resident electronic health records by recording changes and ensuring documentation is kept updated.
* Immediately contact appropriate leadership when residents report abuse or neglect.
* Adhere to The Bluffs employment standards and workplace expectations.

*Supervisory Responsibility*
This position supervises NAs, CNAs and CMTs.
*Work Environment*
This position operates in a nursing home environment. This position is routinely exposed to common health care conditions, noises, chemicals etc. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.
*Physical Demands*
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
* Stand, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; frequently lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
*Position Type/Expected Hours of Work*
This is a full-time position (1.0 FTE) in a healthcare environment which is open 24 hours a day 365 days per year. Holidays and work during inclement weather will be required.

*Qualifications:*
* Current nursing license (LPN or RN).
* Current CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 30 days.
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Familiarity with State and Federal nursing regulations.
* Long-term care experience, preferred.
