Reports To: Fundraising & Development Lead
Salary Range : $53,000 – $60,000 CAD annually

Role Description
This is a contract-based role for a Fundraising Copywriter located in Surrey, BC, with the option to work remotely from Toronto. The Fundraising Copywriter will be responsible for writing compelling content to support fundraising campaigns, including emails, newsletters, social media posts, and donation appeals. You’ll collaborate closely with our fundraising, digital marketing, and design teams to ensure our donor communications reflect the warmth, authenticity, and purpose at the heart of SAF.
What You’ll Do
Core Writing & Content Creation
- Write, edit, and proofread persuasive fundraising materials, including:
- Email campaigns and donor journeys
- Direct mail letters and inserts
- Social media ad copy and impact stories
- Website donation pages and thank-you messages
- Scripts for events, videos, and appeals
- Produce multiple variations of headlines, CTAs, and leads for testing.
- Adapt SAF’s voice and tone to align with donor segments (monthly givers, new supporters, major donors, and faith-based audiences).
Donor-Centered Messaging
- Transform data and stories into meaningful, emotion-driven narratives that reflect Sikh values and impact.
- Use behavioural insights (urgency, community, social proof) ethically and authentically.
- Maintain clarity, accessibility, and compassion in every message.
Optimization & Insights
- Review campaign results (open rates, CTR, response rates, donations) and adjust copy based on performance.
- Maintain consistency in messaging and donor experience across channels.
- Support SEO-friendly storytelling for web and blog content that enhances SAF’s digital reach.
Collaboration & Workflow
- Work from creative briefs and campaign goals with autonomy and accountability.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver high-quality copy on schedule.
- Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and feedback reviews.
Who You Are
- 3–5 years’ experience in fundraising, nonprofit, or marketing copywriting.
- Proven ability to write persuasive, donor-focused content that drives response.
- Strong understanding of donor psychology, storytelling, and community-building messaging.
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, and Canadian English style.
- Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Monday.com, Mailchimp, CRMs.
- Comfortable balancing creativity with data and deadlines.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience writing for faith-based, Sikh, or values-driven organizations.
- Knowledge of direct mail formats, production, or basic SEO.
- A passion for using storytelling to inspire positive change.
