Business Development Representative Job Description Ecotone Renewables is a technology company building a world without waste. We are building, deploying, and operating ZEUS anaerobic digesters to turn food waste into organic fertilizer and renewable biogas. These revolutionary systems are typically deployed as on-site food waste solutions for schools, hospitals, offices, and food service businesses.
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is responsible for driving Ecotone's sales pipeline growth by identifying and engaging potential customers for our ZEUS biodigester solutions. This role focuses on outbound prospecting, lead qualification, and setting up high-quality first meetings for the sales team. The BDR will leverage HubSpot, ZoomInfo, LinkedIn, and other sales tools to create and execute targeted outreach campaigns while maintaining detailed records of all prospect interactions.
Responsibilities
Develop strategies to consistently generate qualified leads and ways to engage high-potential prospects.
Build and manage robust customer pipelines, identify key decision‑makers within target organizations, and design compelling outreach campaigns that establish first meeting connections with prospects.
Partner closely with sales and marketing to define and refine ideal customer profiles, target markets, and messaging strategies.
Analyze market trends and competitor positioning to uncover differentiation opportunities to inform lead‑generating tactics.
Maintain a disciplined approach to prospect and customer engagement, ensuring consistent follow‑up and outreach.
Represent Ecotone with professionalism and credibility in all prospect interactions, crafting and delivering personalized messaging that effectively communicates Ecotone’s value proposition.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
2+ years of B2B sales or similar experience
Proven success selling highly considered purchases to enterprise clients (e.g., facilities management, municipalities, universities, foodservice, or environmental services)
Track record of meeting weekly targets for generating/qualifying leads, and following repeatable sales processes
Strong market acumen, paired with discipline, and follow‑up to generate high‑quality leads and first meeting connections for the sales team
Excellent communication, presentation, cold calling, outreach, and client engagement skills
Experience using CRM and sales enablement platforms such as HubSpot, ZoomInfo, etc.
Experience working in a growth‑stage or mission‑driven company
Ability to travel as needed
