About the Role The Manager, Development will merge database and reporting responsibilities with strategic leadership of a growing mid‑level donor program. The ideal candidate is data‑savvy, detail‑oriented, cognitively curious, and can translate data into insights and actionable decisions. A confident project manager who enjoys building new systems and toggles between behind‑the‑scenes analysis and donor‑facing communications. The role strengthens the donor pipeline, supports revenue growth, and sustains a culture of data‑led fundraising excellence.
Job Responsibilities Database & Reporting Leadership (40%)
Manage and maintain Salesforce donor records for major giving, including gift processing, record creation, and ongoing data hygiene.
Produce and refine reporting and dashboards supporting real‑time major gifts strategy and decision‑making.
Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) for major gifts, including pipeline analysis, segmentation, and portfolio reporting.
Assign all new $5,000+ donors based on capacity, affinity, and strategy.
Lead monthly financial reconciliation processes across Development, Finance, and Operations.
Serve as internal point of contact for all major giving data needs and ongoing CRM optimization.
Translate data into clarity, insight, and direction.
Mid‑Level Giving Program Strategy (30%)
Build and manage SHP’s mid‑level donor program (anticipate definition to be $1K–$9,999), including segmentation, outreach, and conversion strategy.
Create and execute all mid‑level donor communications (email, mailings, and personalized engagement).
Develop and test systems to measure mid‑level donor engagement, retention, and upgrade opportunities.
Identify mid‑level donors with major gift potential and partner with Development colleagues on proactive outreach strategies.
Serve as the Development lead for the Impact Circle mid‑level community, including content review, list refinement, and vendor engagement.
Major Gift Support (15%)
Manage all mass communications to major donors, including segmentation and content review.
Lead the new major donor assignment process and produce regular reporting on follow‑up and pipeline activity.
Lead and execute the quarterly major donor stewardship newsletter, ensuring compelling and timely content.
Lead and execute rapid response outreach to major donors.
Events & Engagement (15%)
Own and execute four virtual engagement events annually for major and selected mid‑level donors, including planning, messaging, logistics, and follow‑up.
Support in‑person donor events, including East and West Coast annual benefits – managing lists, RSVPs, and revenue tracking.
Assist with event production, communications, and follow‑up across the major donor portfolio.
Other duties as identified given organizational needs.
Desired Skills and Experience
6+ years of Development experience, ideally with exposure to major or mid‑level donor strategies.
Demonstrated experience and improvement on systems using CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.org.
Exceptional analytical skills with proven ability to create reports, interpret data, and surface actionable insights.
Experience leading events both in‑person and virtual.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; high emotional intelligence and professional maturity.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.
Flexible, detail‑oriented, solutions‑focused, and comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
Benefits and Salary Range Salary range: $70,000 - $80,000. SHP follows an internal rubric to guide salary placement and ensure equitable pay. New hires generally start at the beginning of the range.
