Heart failure remains one of the most urgent unmet needs in cardiology, especially HFpEF (Heart Failure with preserved Ejection Fraction), which accounts for over half of all heart failure cases yet lacks effective device‑based therapies. Pumpinheart is addressing this gap with the world’s first transcatheter, implantable diastolic heart pump, engineered to reduce left atrial pressure during diastole and improve cardiac filling.
A spin‑out from the
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) , Pumpinheart is pioneering a new category of minimally invasive mechanical circulatory support to transform outcomes for millions of HFpEF patients. Supported by clinical and scientific leaders across Europe and the U.S., the company is entering a pivotal phase of validation, regulatory planning, and commercialization.
This role offers a rare opportunity to shape a
first‑in‑class cardiac device
with the potential to redefine HFpEF treatment globally.
The Opportunity Pumpinheart is forming a select Advisory Board of heart‑failure experts, interventional cardiologists, cardiac surgeons (with MCS & Transplant specialization), medtech innovators, and strategic investors. We are seeking an experienced
Cardiologist Advisor
to help guide our clinical development, regulatory strategy, and adoption pathways.
As a Cardiologist Advisor, you will play a critical role in shaping:
Clinical strategy, patient selection, and HFpEF care pathways
Clinical trial endpoints, safety considerations, and feasibility planning
Integration into cardiology, heart failure, and cath‑lab workflows
Real‑world adoption models and physician usability
KOL introductions, health‑system partnerships, and academic collaborations
Geographic expansion across U.S. and EU cardiovascular networks
Advisors receive early visibility into Pumpinheart’s current and upcoming funding rounds, with opportunities to participate alongside medtech investors and institutional partners.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Strategy & Workflow Integration
Define patient profiles and HFpEF phenotypes suitable for device therapy
Guide integration into HF clinics, cardiology workflows, and procedural settings
Provide clinical insight on performance metrics and outcome measures
Trial Design & Regulatory Support
Advise on early feasibility study design, endpoints, safety parameters, and trial site selection
Support engagement with regulators across U.S., EU, and international markets
Go‑to‑Market & Strategic Connections

Support expansion into key U.S. and EU geographies
Identify and connect clinical champions and early adopters
Product & Market Insight
Provide feedback on device usability, implantation workflow, and interventional practicality
Offer insights on adoption barriers, pricing models, and reimbursement opportunities
We are especially interested in individuals with at least
3
of the following:
10+ years of clinical experience in cardiology, heart failure, or interventional cardiology
Experience with device‑based therapies, hemodynamics, or diastolic dysfunction
Prior involvement in early‑stage medical device companies or clinical trials
Strong network across cardiology practices, HF centers, or academic institutions
Familiarity with FDA/EU device pathways and real‑world adoption challenges
Interest in minimally invasive cardiac technologies and breakthrough HF solutions
Passion for improving HFpEF outcomes through next‑generation device innovation
