Position Summary This person will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and validating budgets that are accurate, data driven and transparent. The Senior Estimator will develop and maintain processes/tools to quickly produce accurate and transparent budgets (i.e., Dashboard, Procore, and Zebel software) for all of Preconstruction. Will also collaborate with Preconstruction Managers and Construction Operations staff to maintain an accurate Cost Catalog in Procore and/or Zebel in order to produce the high-quality budgets and estimates demanded of the position.
This position will provide a vital role for the overall success and delivery of a project(s) preconstruction services through successful planning, budgeting, and project transition to the construction ops team. The candidate will need to be a team oriented collaborative individual working alongside a group of developers, estimators, designers, and construction ops members. The Senior Estimator will also provide all necessary reports across all platforms (i.e., Procore, Dealpath, Smartsheet, etc.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead Conceptual Budgets
Lead takeoffs and Estimates
Collaborate with the Preconstruction Director, Estimator(s), and Preconstruction Manager(s) to update and maintain the Cost Catalog.
Develop and maintain processes/tools to improve the accuracy of conceptual budgets and estimates.
QA/QC and new feature implementation on Bid Tab documents, in collaboration with PCMs and as directed by leadership.
Maintain all budgeting tools and deliverable dates to maximize the throughput of projects from the developers.
Other Duties
Periodic review and audit of the Prequalification Process (on Compass platform)
Attend and collaborate during Constructability Page Turns and Scope Reviews during bidding process.
Have an understanding of the construction market to provide insight on trends and construction cost changes.
Review and audit construction budgets when necessary.
Collaborate with Construction Ops team members to validate the cost catalog prices.
Manage, maintain, and present cost data for companywide objectives, especially data management initiatives, I.e. Domo.
Attend Development Pipeline meetings and provide insight/feedback to developers about the conceptual budgets / estimates for project.
Train other employees on various software platforms and tools.
Competencies
Strong analytical and logic skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of precision on assigned responsibilities.
Knowledge and understanding of maintaining “data” across multiple platforms.
High level of understanding on Excel and data visualization tools.
High level of understanding of Procore and the tools within.
High Level of understanding of Compass Prequalification Software
Understand and maintain construction costs and understand the impacts they have.
Ability to manage multiple projects with full ownership during preconstruction
Highly proficient with interpreting plans and specifications.
Must have good communication and interpersonal qualities.
Able to work in a high energy environment and meet rigorous deadlines.
