Job Title: Azure Integration Architect [Job Code: 260412] Apply to ushire@intent-design.com We are seeking an experienced Azure Integration Architect with deep expertise in Azure API Management (APIM) and Azure Functions developed in Python. The ideal candidate will lead the design and governance of cloud-native integration solutions, define enterprise integration patterns, and guide engineering teams in building scalable, secure and resilient architectures on Microsoft Azure. The architect will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical integration designs, establish best practices, and ensure alignment with enterprise cloud strategy. This role requires strong architectural leadership, hands‑on technical capability, and a solid understanding of modern API-driven and event-driven integration approaches.
Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end architecture for cloud-native integration solutions using APIM and Azure Functions (Python).
Define API-first, microservices, and event-driven integration patterns.
Create high-level and low-level architecture diagrams, sequence flows and integration blueprints.
Evaluate Azure services and recommend optimal designs for scalability, resiliency and cost efficiency.
Define API governance, versioning strategy, and lifecycle management.
Provide architectural guidance to development teams implementing Azure Functions and APIM.
Review solution designs, code, and integration patterns for compliance with standards.
Mentor engineers on cloud-native integration best practices.
Design and integrate APIs with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, Service Bus, and other Azure services.
Implement APIM policies (security, transformation, throttling, caching).
Ensure secure integration using OAuth2, Managed Identities, RBAC, and Azure AD.
Work with networking teams on VNET integration, private endpoints, and hybrid connectivity.
Establish reusable integration patterns, templates, and standards.
Ensure adherence to enterprise security, compliance, and operational guidelines.
Define observability standards using Application Insights, logging, and distributed tracing.
Work with product owners, business analysts, and engineering teams to define integration requirements.
Participate in architecture review boards and provide technical recommendations.
Communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
5-10+ years of experience in integration architecture or cloud solution architecture.
Strong hands-on expertise with Azure API Management (APIM) including policy design and API lifecycle management.
Proficiency in Azure Functions using Python, including durable functions and event-driven patterns.
Deep understanding of Azure integration services: Event Grid, Service Bus, Logic Apps, Storage, Key Vault.
Experience designing API-first, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Strong knowledge of Azure Identity & Access Management (OAuth2, AAD, Managed Identities).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) for APIM and serverless deployments.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).Solid understanding of Azure networking (VNETs, private endpoints, hybrid connectivity).
Proven experience leading architecture for enterprise-scale cloud integration projects.
Ability to create architecture diagrams, integration patterns, and technical documentation.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to evaluate trade-offs and recommend solutions.
Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
