The Applications Engineer is responsible for determining the feasibility of RIFAST products (fasteners and equipment) in customer applications. Using CAD software, the applications engineer is responsible for creating and maintain engineering drawings/models. This role provides engineering support during the quoting process and at times will be responsible for application testing in the RIFAST engineering lab. In addition, acts as the main technical contact for applications engineering related questions for designated sales people. Responsibilities Generate RIFAST engineering solutions; communicate with customers (in-person and/or web-based) through the sales team and/or directly as needed. Define installation parameters for customers to guarantee a successful RIFAST clinching solution in addition to recommending the use of RIFAST installation equipment. Maintain and organize applications using established processes and standards. Create/Maintain CAD drawings and models as needed to support customer applications. Identify and propose RIFAST products for customer Request-for-quotes (RFQs). Submit RIFAST engineering drawings for quoting to manufacturing and outside suppliers. Schedule application testing with RIFAST engineering lab. Perform application testing in RIFAST engineering lab with the use of mechanical equipment. Create engineering test reports and provide to sales team and/or customers directly. Participate in RIFAST R&D initiatives through CAD simulations, prototyping, and testing. Escalate application engineering concerns/complaints/issues to supervisor in a timely manner. Cross-functional collaboration between engineering, quality, operations, and sales team. Preferred: Direct experience in automotive industry and or cold-headed fastener industry
