Position Summary We seek a talented Research Survey Data Analyst with experience in public health. The Research Survey Data Analyst will collaborate with a friendly team of scientific staff who manage and analyze public health data, producing data that informs real‑world policy for maternal and child health within a dynamic and respected research firm.
Far Harbor is hiring for two (2) Research Survey Data Analysts. These are full‑time positions currently funded through September 2026, with continued employment subject to project renewal (good likelihood of FY27 funding). The transition to a permanent full‑time role is contingent on performance and funding availability.

About the Position The Research Survey Data Analyst collaborates with project leads and fellow team members on research and client projects. They will assist scientific staff, conduct analysis and weighting of population health surveys (primarily using SAS), ensure the highest standards of quality, and prepare public use datasets for external researchers.
Important Due to the nature of the contract, applicants must be U.S. Citizens and willing to undergo a federal background investigation and security screening to gain access to sensitive datasets.
Experience You Will Bring
Masters‑level (or higher) training in social science or public health field (e.g., sociology, education, economics, psychology, public health).
At least 5 years of professional experience as an applied researcher.
Proficiency with SAS programming, including: complex data management (including harmonizing and joining data files); developing and calling SAS macros; running statistical procedures; and SQL commands.
Demonstrated experience with quality control for SAS programs and workflows.
Demonstrated experience with administrative survey records, electronic health records, or vital records.
Familiarity with advanced analytic methods (multilevel modeling, logistic regression).
Familiarity with complex survey designs (clustered sampling, oversampling).
History of excellent writing for technical and scientific audiences.
Preferred Experience
At least one year of applied research experience in a public health field.
Experience developing and/or applying survey weights, ideally for population‑based survey efforts (e.g., Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System [PRAMS]).
Experience with program evaluation and observational (or quasi‑experimental) studies.
Applied consulting or project management experience within a fast‑paced remote environment.
Ability to communicate clear results to non‑technical audiences.
Compensation Starting salary is
$96k-110k/year
(based on experience) with annual cost of living adjustments and bonuses based on company performance. Our benefits package for full‑time employees includes vacation, holidays, flex work benefits, health benefit options, 401k with profit sharing plan, and company‑paid access to the on‑site gym.
Consulting Opportunities We are also open to project‑based consulting arrangements. We offer independent consultants flexible engagement models and negotiable hourly or project‑based rates.
Work Location We are a remote‑first company with downtown offices available for those that live in Austin TX. Our team mostly works remotely, with Austin staff gathering a few times each month to collaborate. Local staff are provided with high‑end ergonomic sit/stand workstations and can choose to work in‑office more frequently as desired. Our modern offices include a fitness center with showers for walking/running/biking to work. This role may require occasional travel to client site meetings; and staff who do not live in the Austin area can expect to travel for team planning meetings 1‑2 times a year.
