This role assists with patient intake, clinical procedures, front desk operations, and overall patient flow to ensure a safe, efficient, and positive experience for every patient./ph2Essential Functions/h2ulliRegister patients and collect required paperwork, insurance information, and eligibility verification/liliProcess co-pays and schedule appointments/liliCoordinate referrals to specialists as directed/liliPrepare patients for examination by confirming visit details, obtaining medical history, and documenting information in the medical record/liliMeasure and record vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight)/liliPerform point-of-care testing (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, EKG, pregnancy testing) and communicate results to providers/liliDraw and prepare blood specimens for laboratory analysis/liliPrepare and stock exam rooms; monitor supplies and inventory levels/liliMaintain accurate medical records, including scanning and documentation/liliAnswer phones, manage correspondence, and maintain a welcoming reception area/liliConduct patient follow-up courtesy calls/liliPerform opening and closing duties, including cash handling, end-of-day reconciliation, and securing the facility/liliPerform daily equipment checks, quality control, calibration, troubleshooting, and submit repair requests as needed/liliAdhere to all clinical, safety, and organizational policies/liliPerform other duties as assigned/li/ulh2Education/h2ulliHigh School Diploma or equivalent required/liliGraduate of a Medical Assisting Program preferred/li/ulh2Work Experience/h2ulliMinimum of 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required/liliFront desk or patient registration experience preferred/liliBasic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire/li/ulh2Certification Requirements/h2pFor candidates with less than three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience, one of the following certifications is required:/pulliCCMA Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA)/liliCMA Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA or CHP)/liliRMA Registered Medical Assistant (AMT, AAH, or ARMA)/liliNCMA National Certified Medical Assistant (NCCT)/liliNRCMA Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NAHP)/li/ulh2Certification Alternatives/h2pIn lieu of an approved MA certification, candidates may qualify through one of the following:/ph3Experience-Based Pathway/h3ulli3+ years of Medical Assistant experience and/lili1+ year of experience in a Hospital, Emergency Department, or Urgent Care setting/li/ulpstrongNote:/strong Candidates hired without an approved MA certification must obtain one within 6 months of their start date to remain eligible for continued employment in a Medical Assistant role./ph3Alternative Credentials (Accepted at Time of Hire)/h3ulliGraduate of an Accredited School of Nursing (LPN or RN)/liliEMT or Paramedic (NREMT)/liliCertified Nursing Assistant (CNA)/li/ulh2Additional Requirements/h2ulliCPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) certification must be obtained within two weeks of start date/li/ulh2Knowledge, Skills Abilities/h2ulliProficiency with basic Medical Assistant clinical duties/liliStrong computer skills; ability to type efficiently/liliWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel/liliDetail-oriented with strong organizational skills/liliAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment/liliExcellent written and verbal communication skills/liliDemonstrated commitment to treating all individuals with fairness, respect, and cultural sensitivity/li/ulh2Additional Information/h2pThis job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
