Job Summary
The Roll-Off Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers across multiple lines of businesses. The CDL Driver will collect waste from customer sites and transport it to post-collection facilities for proper disposal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safe Operations: Operate roll-off truck and ancillary equipment to collect waste using prescribed techniques to eliminate driver-induced mechanical failures.

  • Inspections & Reporting: Complete daily pre-trip and post-trip safety lane inspections, truck reports, route sheets, and other required documentation. Immediately communicate vehicle mechanical problems to the mechanic and supervisor.

  • Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety standards, equipment checks, and precautions. Comply with all federal, state/provincial, local, and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.

  • Hazard Communication: Identify and communicate any potential hazards in serving/picking up containers to the Supervisor/Lead prior to performing tasks.

  • Professional Demeanor: Exhibit a professional demeanor, manner, and appearance at all times when meeting customers and the general public while on route or in uniform.

  • Equipment & Maintenance: Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times (gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.). Maintain a clean vehicle cab interior and exterior.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with supervisors to improve routing efficiencies and attend all mandatory safety and branch meetings.

Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired.

  • License: Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of commercial driving experience OR a CDL school certificate.

  • Qualifications: Must meet relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards and demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform the job.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interface with teams and complete simple paperwork (accident reports, pre/post-trip logs).

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

  • Ability to apply common-sense reasoning to carry out written or oral instructions and solve general problems under limited supervision.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Physical Effort: Frequently required to sit (up to 75% of the time due to driving), stand, walk, climb, balance, bend, and crouch. Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.

  • Vision: Excellent close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception required for constant maneuvering in tight, high-traffic areas.

  • Environment: Work in an outdoor environment up to 100% of the time, exposed to loud noise, vibrations, traffic conditions, and extreme weather (hot, cold, rain, storms). Occasionally work in high, precarious places.
