Job title: R&D Engineer Graduate (Level 1) Location: ATU iHub, Dublin Road, Galway Company: Based in GMIT my client aredevelopingsolutionsforproblemsinembolization. Embolizationisaminimallyinvasiveprocedurethatcanbeusedtotreat,forexample,internal bleedingorbenignandmalignanttumors. Overview: This position requires a highly motivated graduate engineer to join a start-up product development team working on a novel embolization device for the treatment of vascular conditions. The role provides hands-on exposure to design development, prototyping, and verification activities. The successful candidate will work closely with senior engineers while progressively taking ownership of testing, prototype evaluation, and engineering problem-solving tasks. The Graduate R&D Engineer will contribute to development activities including test method creation, data analysis, and technical document generation, while building an understanding of vascular anatomy and clinical application Responsibilities: Support design development including CAD modelling, prototyping, and iterative design improvements Develop, set up, and take ownership of new test methods to evaluate device performance Design and build test fixtures and execute benchtop testing (including Instron and simulated-use models) Analyseexperimental data using statistical techniques and engineering judgement to support design decisions Generate clear, structured technical reportssummarisingtest methods, results, and conclusions Inspect, assemble, and evaluate prototype devices,identifyingopportunities for improvement Support design verification activities including protocol development, execution, and reporting Participatein planning, execution, and analysis of pre-clinical (animal) studies in collaboration with senior engineers and external partners Contribute to interpretation of pre-clinical data and documentation of study outcomes Participatein design reviews and present findings to the wider engineering team Contribute to risk analysis and risk management activities Support generation of technical documentation including design specifications, protocols, reports, and work instructions Workin accordance withISO 13485 and applicable regulatory requirements Requirements: - Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related discipline - Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals - Exposure to CAD tools (e.g.SolidWorks) - Interest in hands-on testing, prototyping, and experimental work Does this sound like your next career move?
