Overview This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following location: North Carolina.
This position provides expert technical guidance on large, complex, and strategic projects with significant impact for the Direct Bank Technology and the General Banking Digital Solutions teams. Facilitates the creation and implementation of software systems and software development. Consults and provides subject matter expertise on software evaluations, feasibility studies, and new technologies. Specializes in software development and integration with third party solutions, as a single point of contact with the third-party vendors. Recommends processes and products that meet strategic goals while aligning with the Bank’s long‑term technology direction.
Responsibilities
Software Development Support – Facilitates software development through the creation of software utilities or other means to support effective software development activities/solutions. Evaluates software specifications to determine feasibility of use in particular infrastructures. Analyzes, presents, and implements necessary development and/or infrastructure changes.
Technical Expert – Maintains a strong knowledge of technology trends and impact on the Bank’s infrastructure in order to provide relevant consultative guidance. Trains and mentors others on new technologies.
Consultation – Provides technical advice and direction to associates, management, and developmental project teams. Utilizes expertise to consult and develop software to solve complex technical problems.
Business Strategy – Advises on strategies that align developmental projects with long‑term business needs and technological direction. Assists management in implementing initiatives or strategies across the division.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree and 10 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
OR
High School Diploma or GED and 14 years of experience in Software application development and maintenance
Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Area of Study: Computer Science
Preferred Area of Experience: Financial Services Industry
Preferred Qualifications Expert experience in the following technologies, data, tools and architecture:
Java/JavaEE Ecosystem (Spring, Spring Security, Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.)
Angular, React, Node.jsl
AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, etc.), Azure
Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes
DevOps Practices: CI/CD Pipelines (Jenkins, Maven, etc.) Infrastructure Automation
Relational Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), NoSQL Databases (MongoDB)
ETL Tools: Talend, IBM InfoSphere DataStage – Design & Implementation
Messaging Systems: JMS, ActiveMQ, WebSphere MQ
Data Analytics & Reporting: Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Metabase, Celebrus, LogRocket
Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, and System Design
Object‑Oriented Analysis & Design (OOAD), Design Patterns
Microservices Architecture, API Design & Management, RESTful Services
Cloud Architecture (AWS, Azure): Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Serverless, Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and Database Design (Relational, NoSQL)
Security Architecture: Authentication (SAML 2.0, OAuth2, OIDC), Authorization (RBAC, OPA), Vulnerability Assessment (SAST, DAST, SCA)
Technical Leadership: Mentoring, Code Reviews, Architectural Guidance
Agile Methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
