Why This Role MattersThe Area Sales Manager plays a critical role in expanding SPAX market share across professional construction channels. This position focuses on developing new business, strengthening distribution partnerships, and increasing contractor adoption within Lumberyards, Distributors, and professional building material channels.This is a field-driven role responsible for driving territory performance through disciplined market development, relationship building, and hands-on product advocacy. Success in this position directly impacts revenue growth, brand awareness, and long-term channel strength across the assigned territory.

Your Role & ImpactAs Area Sales Manager, you own the growth, development, and execution of SPAX's market strategy within your assigned territory.You will:Drive territory growth through new business development and expanded channel engagementBuild strong partnerships with dealers, distributors, and contractors to increase product adoptionExecute field activation strategies including jobsite demonstrations, product training, and dealer engagement eventsIdentify market opportunities and translate insights into actionable growth initiativesStrengthen SPAX's brand presence and competitive positioning within the professional construction channelProvide real-time market intelligence to sales leadership, marketing, and product teamsTerritory & Market DevelopmentDevelop and execute a territory growth strategy aligned with company sales objectivesIdentify and pursue new dealer, distributor, and contractor opportunitiesExpand SPAX brand presence within Lumberyards, STAFDA, building product distributors, and professional building channelsBuild long-term relationships with owners, branch managers, outside sales representatives, and counter teamsSales Growth & Channel ExpansionDrive profitable sales growth and increase product penetration across assigned marketsStrengthen stocking positions with distributors and dealers through relationship management and value sellingConvert contractors and end users through product demonstrations, training, and on-site engagementSupport distributor and dealer partners with sales enablement, product education, and field supportField Activation & Product AdvocacyConduct jobsite demonstrations and product training sessionsServe as a SPAX brand ambassador by communicating product performance advantages and installation benefitsSupport regional promotions, product launches, and marketing initiativesParticipate in trade shows, industry events, and contractor engagement activitiesMarket Intelligence & Business InsightProvide feedback on pricing, competitive activity, product needs, and emerging market trendsAnalyze territory performance and identify opportunities to improve market penetrationCollaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams to refine strategies based on market insightsEssential DutiesOperational Discipline & CollaborationMaintain accurate CRM data including pipeline activity, customer engagement, and forecastingCollaborate with Inside Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Operations to ensure alignment and executionDeliver regular updates on territory performance, growth initiatives, and market opportunitiesSupport company initiatives that strengthen channel partnerships and drive long-term market growthTravel:This is a field-based role requiring regular travel throughout the assigned territory, including jobsite visits, distributor branches, customer meetings, and industry events. Travel expectations typically range from 60-75%.
Position Requirements - Experience & Education:5+ years of experience in field sales, market development, or business developmentExperience within building materials, construction supply, fasteners, or industrial distribution strongly preferredExperience working with Lumberyards, STAFDA, building product distributors, or professional contractor channels preferredProven ability to grow territories, win competitive business, and expand market shareAssociate or bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferredHigh school diploma or GED requiredRequired Skills/Competencies:Strong territory management and field sales execution skillsAbility to develop new business and grow existing accountsStrong relationship-building skills with dealers, distributors, and contractorsUnderstanding of Lumberyard, STAFDA, Building product distributors, and professional building material channels preferredAbility to conduct product demonstrations and jobsite trainingStrong communication and presentation skillsAbility to analyze territory performance and identify growth opportunitiesProficiency in CRM systems, pipeline management, and forecastingStrong organizational skills with disciplined follow-up and executionAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities across a large territoryHigh accountability, urgency, and results-oriented mindsetAbility to collaborate effectively with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and OperationsValid driver's licenseThe duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and additional tasks may be assigned from time to time; or the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business.
