Emma Vet is seeking a Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our Urgent Care team. This is a great opportunity for a reliable, compassionate assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, team-oriented clinical environment.

- Urgent Care & General Practice
- 3 Doctors
- Modern, collaborative hospital environment
Tentative Schedule:
- Wednesday: 11:00 AM 11:00 PM
- Thursday: 11:00 AM 11:00 PM
- Saturday: 11:00 AM 11:00 PM
Hospital Hours:
- MondayFriday: 8:00 AM 11:00 PM
- SaturdaySunday: 11:00 AM 11:00 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and technicians with urgent and emergency cases
- Restrain patients safely and compassionately
- Prepare treatment areas and maintain a clean, organized workspace
- Assist with diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
- Monitor patients and report changes to the medical team
- Support client communication during urgent care visits
- Help maintain hospital flow during busy shifts
Veterinary Experience & Skills
- 1+ year of veterinary/kennel experience
- Animal handling and restraint
- Assisting with medication administration
- Dispensing medications to go home
- Familiar with vaccines required for boarding
- Basic laboratory, pharmacy, and nursing support skills
- Exposure to in-house lab equipment (including Idexx)
- Exposure to radiographs
- Feeding and exercising animals
- Cleaning and sanitizing

- Be a Critical Support in Urgent Situations: You'll be an essential part of the medical team, directly assisting veterinarians and technicians with hands-on patient care in a fast-paced environment.
- Ensure a Seamless Workflow During a Crisis: Your ability to anticipate needs and maintain composure will be key to keeping the clinic running efficiently, even during a medical emergency.
- Provide a Calming Presence for Clients: You'll be a reassuring point of contact for worried pet owners, assisting with check-ins, payments, and communications with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain High Standards Under Pressure: You'll uphold our commitment to excellence by ensuring accurate record-keeping and maintaining a clean, safe hospital environment at all times.
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience, with ER or high-volume experience preferred.
- The ability to stay calm, composed, and efficient during a medical crisis.
- Confidence and skill in handling pets, with proficiency in basic laboratory, pharmacy, and nursing skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
- A flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
