Position Summary UTHealth Houston’s Epic Operating Team is looking for an analyst who will work on billing modules associated with our revenue cycle process. The analyst will design, build, test, validate, and support all assigned Professional Billing (PB) modules across the healthcare system. This role is remote, but we prefer employees to live in Texas. The role involves troubleshooting Epic system issues, capturing requirements, aiding planning and execution of project plans, and communicating improvements needed for business processes.
Responsibilities
Maintain expertise and seek additional knowledge in the support and optimization of assigned Epic module(s) and integrations.
Provide system support including analysis, build, and testing of requested changes, and analysis of new functionality.
Review, build, test and implement new functionality via System Upgrades and Special Updates.
Manage multiple tasks independently.
Troubleshoot complex production software and workflow issues across applications/teams and define mitigation plans.
Develop internal procedures for Epic application support, maintenance, and optimization.
Help develop build timelines and project plans.
Maintain system documentation for ongoing support and maintenance.
Assist Application Director with build timelines and project plans.
Perform and oversee unit testing of application configurations and builds in non‑production environments, identify defects and create resolution plans.
Create test scripts and ensure accuracy for integrated and end‑user testing.
Document test results following structured testing procedures.
Follow established guidelines for system change control.
Create and maintain change‑management documentation, including cost estimation, project documentation, communication, and training plans.
Collaborate across teams for process design, interface development, testing, and end‑user training to meet quality standards.
Independently perform basic project‑management activities for system changes and medium‑to‑large projects.
Develop application‑specific reports and provide specifications to report developers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Certification & Skills
Superior communication skills—oral, written, presentation, and explaining complex subjects to non‑technical groups.
Superior customer‑relation skills, leading and participating in group sessions and reaching consensus.
Knowledge of project lifecycle and methodologies for software management.
Ability to plan and manage projects of various sizes, tasks, dependencies, team members, resources, and timelines.
Analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles, and solve problems or design systems that cross departmental lines.
Must obtain a passing score (as defined by Epic) on all required exams within two attempts, within six weeks after training completion or within a predetermined time frame.
EPIC certification by EPIC required.
Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related discipline, or equivalent years of related experience in health care or information technology.
Minimum Experience 5 years in a health‑care related field required. 3 years of experience supporting one or more Epic modules preferred. Experience with large‑scale health‑care system planning and implementation preferred.
Physical Requirements Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
Security Sensitive
Position is security‑sensitive pursuant to Texas Education Code 51.215.
Texas Government Code 411.094.
Texas Business and Commerce Code 117.001(2) requiring ability to maintain security or integrity of critical infrastructure.
Personnel regularly reviewed for criminal history or continuous connections to government or foreign adversary as defined in 15 C.F.R.

Residency Requirement Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
