Job Summary Responsible for maintaining participation and/or coordination, consultation and technical support of data systems, including but not limited to: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Joint Commission (TJC), and other various registries based on clinical diagnosis. Although direct patient care is not part of this job role, understanding clinical presentations of disease processes across the age spectrum is necessary. Develops and implements processes to collect, monitor, analyze and report quality improvement and safety information consistent with internal and external needs. Contributes to the development of the health quality plan for Sanford. Coordinates and facilitates work on assigned quality improvement goals related to the overall quality initiative. Facilitates quality improvement activities within assigned department and setting including implementation of improvement strategies. Stimulates problem solving and innovation. Coordinate peer review activities within assigned departments. Analyzes patient records to identify potential variances from desired clinical outcomes. Designs and provides education on quality improvement topics as needed. Provides consultation on quality improvement and accreditation.
Qualifications Appropriate education level required in accordance with state clinical licensure.
Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Minimum of three years clinical background in specialty required. Microsoft Office applications experience preferred.
Obtains and subsequently maintains an unencumbered professional clinical license with the applicable state board, accrediting body, and/or national registry as required for department needs and specialty focus area(s).
If an Registered Nurse, holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possesses multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
Maintain any additional department specific competencies and certifications. Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred.
