À propos
The Mission The grid that powers modern life was built for a different era. What comes next — more distributed, more renewable, more resilient, more complex — requires a different kind of thinking. The utilities and grid operators navigating this transition are not short of ambition. What they need are advisors who can translate that ambition into clear strategy, defensible business cases and practical roadmaps that actually get implemented.
Our client is one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms. Their Grid Modernisation Advisory team works at the intersection of technical depth and strategic clarity — helping utilities make sense of the most consequential infrastructure decisions of our generation.
This role is fully remote and open across the US.
The Opportunity As Senior Grid Modernisation Advisor you will work with utilities and grid operators on the complex organisational and technical transitions that define the next era of energy infrastructure. This is a seller‑doer role — you will pursue opportunities, win work and lead engagements. You will build trusted advisor relationships with senior client stakeholders, develop strategic roadmaps and business cases, and mentor the next generation of advisors coming up behind you.
You will also contribute to the broader conversation — through publications, industry reports, podcasts and speaking engagements. This is a role for someone who has something worth saying and the confidence to say it.
What You Will Do Work alongside a team of subject matter experts to deliver complex technical analysis and strategic recommendations for utility clients. Build and maintain deep awareness of market trends in grid modernisation — and share that knowledge generously within the team. Develop needs assessments, strategic roadmaps and business cases. Support vendor selection processes with clarity and rigour. Lead or support advisory engagements from pursuit through delivery. Create high quality reports, presentations and executive summaries that translate technical complexity into clear decisions. Mentor less experienced advisors. Contribute to the annual business plan and marketing goals.
What You Bring 12 or more years of energy industry experience with strong technical depth. A bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Engineering or a related field. Proven ability to complete complex technical analysis and communicate findings to a wide range of audiences — from engineers to executives. Experience developing business cases, cost‑benefit analyses and strategic roadmaps. A track record of forming trusted advisor relationships with clients. The ability to work independently, manage multiple engagements and travel around 20% of the time.
You understand the grid not just technically but organisationally — you know that the hardest part of modernisation is rarely the technology itself.
Why This Role Grid modernisation is where the energy transition gets real. Every roadmap you develop, every business case you build, every vendor selection you guide contributes directly to a grid that can handle what is coming — more renewables, more demand, more complexity, more expectation. This is consequential work and the team doing it knows it.
