The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) oversees and provides workforce development services to employers and job seekers. We are seeking a Federal Court Certified Spanish Interpreter to join the Appellate Services Division Operational Support Services. While our main office is located at 101 E. 15th Street in Austin, Texas, work can be performed from any city in Texas.
TWC is not considering applications from individuals who require sponsorship for an employment visa, including those currently on student or postgraduate visas. You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to any city in Texas.
You Are You are a punctual and reliable Federal Court Certified Spanish Interpreter, with a detail-oriented approach to ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment. You work effectively as part of a team, balancing multiple priorities and effectively advancing Division and agency goals. You are committed to good customer service and ready to collaborate across the agency.
What You Will Do The Interpreter IV performs highly advanced (senior-level) interpreter work. Work involves interpreting or translating Spanish into English and English into Spanish. May supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
You Will Be Trusted To
Interpret consecutively and translate messages English to Spanish, while maintaining intended content, context, and style.
Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors.
Read written materials, such as policies, procedures, reports, publications, and news materials; and rewrites them into specified languages.
Review edits and revisions of translated materials.
Review translations of terms and terminology to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout translation revisions.
Assess whether communication is being understood.
Represent the agency at business meetings, hearings, trials, conferences, and seminars, or on boards, panels, and committees.
May provide fluency level assessments.
May supervise the work of others.
Perform related work as assigned.
You Qualify With
Experience as an interpreter.
Completion of an accredited interpreter training program.
Must be a Federally Certified Court Interpreter.
You Are a Great Fit With
A current certificate proving you have passed the Administrative Office of the United States Courts’ Spanish Certification Examination.
Experience using computers and applicable software.
Demonstrated experience interpreting and translating legal and/or proof documents accurately in a fast-paced environment encompassing various situations, parties, and difficulty levels.
Experience communicating effectively.
Fluency in both Spanish and English, demonstrated through excellent interpreting skills.
Demonstrated experience in consecutive interpreting and sight translation.
