Are you a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist or Senior Intellectual Disability Nurse driven by human rights, person-centred practice, and a desire to lead innovative, forward-thinking approaches to behavioural support? Callan Institute is seeking a Behaviour Support Coordinator. In this senior leadership position, you will influence and shape organisational strategy for behavioural support across SJOGCS. You will spearhead the advancement and facilitation of the Multi-Element Behaviour Support (MEBS) framework and help drive research and innovation that enhances evidence-based practice in the natural science of behaviour in intellectual disability(adult) services. About Callan Institute As part of SJOGCS, Callan Institute provides consultation, training, and support in Positive Behaviour Support, using the Multi-Element Behaviour Support Framework, and Raising Understanding and Awareness (RUA) in relationships and sexuality. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Practice Development o Provide clinical leadership and governance in the implementation and evaluation of the Multi-Element Behaviour Support Framework in SJOGCS Intellectual Disability Services, in line with national and international legislation, policy, and research (E.g. UNCRPD, Health Act, ADMCA, HIQA, Safeguarding, HSE Guiding Principles and Policies and SJOGCS Policies.) to advance progressive and evidence-informed approaches. o Facilitate Communities of Practice, Mentor and supervise behaviour practitioners and work closely with multiple disciplines, families, and other agencies to build capacity and confidence in the MEBS framework. Consultation & Training Provide expert consultation on situations in relation to individuals supported quality of life, wellbeing, and behavioural support needs, ensuring person-centred, collaborative working and rights-based approaches. Design, facilitate and review workshops and training courses for and with individuals supported, staff, families, students and professionals. Research & Innovation o Lead out on and provide strategic leadership for the evolution of behavioural support practice, policy, research, committees, governance, and organisational culture across SJOGCS, fostering meaningful participation and shared ownership across all stakeholders. o Drive innovation in practice through development of resources, toolkits, assistive technology and digital learning solutions. Essential Criteria A recognised undergraduate qualification in psychology/ intellectual disability nursing. A post-graduate qualification in the natural science of behaviour, for example in Positive Behaviour Support. Professional Registration in Ireland, with for example, Psychological Society of Ireland/Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland. 2+ years' experience in a leadership role, coordinating and managing Positive Behaviour Support services within an adult intellectual disability service, with a deep understanding of the Multi-Element Behaviour Support Framework. (Constructional Approach) Proven ability to support situations with individuals supported in relation to quality of life, wellbeing and behavioural support needs working collaboratively with the individual supported, their circle of support and MDT members as appropriate. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and experience, including listening, critical thinking, problem solving, organisational/time management skills, verbal, written and IT skills, with a reliable, compassionate, and flexible approach to work, with experience in staff mentoring, training, support and supervision. Proficiency in designing (including co-creating), facilitating, and evaluating training with evidence of leading out on innovative research initiatives. Exhibit expertise in upholding human rights; applying person-centred approaches; implementing organisational strategies and processes for policy development, implementation and evaluation; and positive risk including evidencing a commitment to restriction free practices.
