divh2Medical Assistant Position/h2pThe Medical Assistant (MA) position is responsible for medical testing, assisting the nursing and provider staff with the exam process, and the maintenance of medical record documentation in accordance with Occupational Medical Services at the Hanford environmental restoration site in Richland, Washington. Adhere to AAAHC guidelines/standards to maintain accreditation. Operating at the top of a MA licensure, and within licensure scope of practice. This is a mandatory union position./ppThe MA is responsible for the following duties:/pulliInterview patient and measure pulse, respirations, blood pressure, temperature, height, and weight as needed./liliPrepares treatment rooms for examination of patient./liliTeach patient self-care and education regarding testing./liliPerform audiometric tests for clinic patients in accordance with CAOHC standards. Obtain CAOHC certification to perform audiometry testing./liliPerform Spirometry testing (Pulmonary function testing). Obtain NIOSH certification to perform Spirometry./liliConducts electrocardiograms./liliPerform Urine drug screens and breath alcohol testing./liliPerform Vision exams./liliPerform CUA wave testing./liliObserve/gather patient history/symptoms and report to provider/nursing team accurately./liliObserve universal precautions regarding bloodborne pathogens for patient and person protection./liliMaintain medical charts and review for completeness and accuracy./liliProperly secure all medical records and confidential information in accordance with established operating procedures, federal and state laws./liliMaintain and utilize a variety of records./liliBack-up coverage for Patient Registration Specialist./liliDemonstrate professional etiquette to respond to patient requests or complaints./liliEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, and patients./liliAdhere to and foster acceptable health and safety procedures./liliAdhere to all company policies and procedures./liliPerforms other related duties as assigned./li/ulpTo perform this job successfully, an individual must have the minimum educational credentials from an accredited school, college or university and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required./pulliThe Medical Assistant shall possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent./liliAble to obtain Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant credentials with the department of health./liliBasic Life Support (BLS) preferred but not required. Able to obtain within 90 days of hire./liliAt least 1 year of experience in a medical/clinical environment preferred./liliCouncil for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC certification preferred but not required. Able to obtain within 90 days of hire./liliNational Institute for Occupational Safety and Health certification (NIOSH) preferred but not required. Able to obtain within 90 days of hire./liliUrine Drug Screening and Breath alcohol testing certifications preferred but not required.
