not accepting submissions from third-party recruiters . Overview: Mechanical Design Engineer I/II Allied Systems designs and builds
American-made heavy equipment
supporting wood products, agriculture, heavy construction, marine and offshore, energy, and specialized material handling industries. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll work across multiple product lines (Allied Winch, Allied Marine Crane, Long Reach, Freeman, Wagner) in a
cradle-to-grave environment —designing real equipment from concept through manufacturing and into the field. What You’ll Do: Design heavy equipment across
multiple product lines and diverse applications , where versatility is key Apply
core engineering fundamentals
(statics, load calculations, and free body diagrams) to ensure safe, reliable designs Develop designs that meet
customer requirements and industry standards Collaborate with manufacturing, project management, and quality teams to deliver
practical, build-ready solutions Provide
hands-on support to production , troubleshooting issues, and improving manufacturability Support product development from
concept through production , focusing on quality and performance Ensure designs comply with
ABS, API, and applicable federal regulations Participate in
quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives What Will Help You Succeed: Strong foundation in
math, statistics, and structural analysis Exposure to
FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Experience or familiarity with
hydraulic systems, drivetrains, and electrical/control systems Ability to work across
multiple product lines and shifting priorities Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required. 2-4 years of relevant experience in design engineering or a suitable combination of education and experience. Experience in hydraulic systems, mobile equipment drivetrains, electrical/control systems, and/or structural design. Proficiency in using current versions of Inventor and/or AutoCAD is strongly preferred. Exceptional attention to detail and strong analysis skills. Excellent problem-solving capabilities and effective communication skills.
