As an MRI Technologist PRN, you will greet and prepare patients for MRI procedures, verify patient identification and exam orders, review medical histories for contraindications, and carefully explain the procedure to reduce anxiety and ensure informed consent. You will position patients accurately using immobilization devices as needed, select appropriate imaging protocols, and operate MRI equipment in accordance with established guidelines. You will administer contrast agents when ordered, monitor patients closely for adverse reactions, and respond appropriately to any changes in patient condition, upholding Methodist Health System’s commitment to integrity, compassion, and accountability.
You will be expected to follow strict MRI safety protocols, including screening patients, staff, and visitors for contraindications such as implanted devices or foreign bodies, and maintaining a safe environment in and around the MRI suite. The role includes troubleshooting image quality issues, making necessary technical adjustments, and collaborating with radiologists to ensure that images are diagnostically optimal. Documentation of procedures, accurate entry of exam data into the radiology information system, and timely transfer of images to PACS are essential parts of the job.

You will support workflow by prioritizing exams based on clinical urgency, coordinating with the Emergency Department, inpatient units, and outpatient services as needed, and adapting to changing schedules and volumes typical of a PRN position. Adherence to infection control policies, HIPAA regulations, and all departmental and hospital protocols is required.
This position typically requires completion of an accredited radiologic technology or MRI program, current ARRT registration in Radiography and/or MRI, and current Basic Life Support certification. Prior hospital-based MRI experience is preferred, particularly experience working with acutely ill or emergency patients.
