Advanced Embedded Engineering About the Role We’re looking for a Lead Embedded Software Engineer to guide a small, high‑performing team building low‑level software for space‑grade systems. You’ll own the full embedded software lifecycle, from architecture and development through integration, testing, and delivery, while mentoring engineers and shaping the technical direction of the team. This is a hands‑on leadership role where you’ll contribute code, drive engineering standards, and help deliver reliable software for mission‑critical space applications. What You’ll Do Lead and mentor a team of embedded software engineers through the full development lifecycle Design, develop, test, and debug low‑level embedded software for space systems Guide the team through architecture decisions, code reviews, and best practices Support integration and testing, including writing and executing unit tests Work within an agile development environment and contribute to sprint planning Collaborate with hardware, systems, and mission teams to ensure seamless integration Provide coaching, regular 1:1s, and input into performance evaluations Contribute to documentation, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives Required Experience Strong background developing embedded software for real‑time, deterministic systems Proficiency in
C, C++, and Python Experience with software integration, debugging, and unit testing Comfortable working across
Windows and Linux
development environments Experience in agile development workflows Minimum
5 years
of relevant engineering experience Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field Preferred Skills (Not required, but highly valuable) Experience with Linux board support packages Yocto or similar build system experience Bare‑metal development Experience developing hardware or embedded systems for advanced applications Experience with embedded instrumentation Export Control Requirement Due to U.S. Government space technology regulations (ITAR/EAR), candidates must be: A U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident, A protected individual (as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)), Or otherwise eligible to obtain required authorisations.
