DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Analyze, recommend, and develop policy and procedures regarding Medicaid services that will maximize Illinois resources, increase clinical quality, and ensure compliance with the federal Medicaid program.
Seek to foster innovation and employ best practices in the development of Illinois Medicaid-funded projects and initiatives.
Review and research new healthcare programs and procedure codes and make recommendations for policy around those programs and codes.
Make policy recommendations to OMI and HFS leadership to establish and finalize policy decisions.
Draft state plan amendments, waiver applications, and rules changes, at the request of HFS leadership.
Provide policy expertise and technical assistance to HFS staff and stakeholders to ensure accurate and consistent understanding of the federal Medicaid program and Illinois' Medical Assistance program.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS A minimum of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in policy administration in health, business, law, or a related field. A Master’s Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
Additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization may be required based on position requirements.
PREFERRED EDUCATION
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (health care administration, business, law or related field).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Comprehensive understanding of health service administration, professional relationship development, and data management and analysis skills.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to quickly assess and analyze strategic business affairs to act in the best interest of OMI/HFS.
Ability to work well with a team.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, with special emphasis on Excel.
Comprehensive understanding of Illinois Medicaid delivery system and HFS Managed Care Organizations.
APPOINTMENT INFORMATION This is a 100% Full Time Civil Service Program Coordinator position. The expected start date is 5/15/2026. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
The budgeted salary range for the position is $70,000.00 - $80,000.00.
