The Payroll Director plays a vital role in overseeing the payroll operations for a dynamic organization. This position is critical for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a workforce of approximately 4,300 employees, including both union and non-union personnel. The director will be responsible for navigating complex payroll systems and managing audits, while also addressing challenges related to efficiency and team dynamics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong leadership presence and a hands-on approach, fostering a collaborative environment during a period of transition. This role requires a deep understanding of payroll regulations and the ability to implement process improvements effectively.
Salary Range: $145,000 - $165,000 / Year DOE
Payroll Director Responsibilities:
- Oversee certified payroll processing and manage audit requirements
- Implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency
- Address payroll issues with a customer service mindset
- Build and lead a payroll team, ensuring smooth transitions during personnel changes
- Communicate effectively with internal staff regarding payroll concerns
- Maintain compliance with multi-state payroll regulations
Payroll Director Requirements:
- Certified Payroll experience
- Experience managing payroll for a workforce of 3,000 employees
- Experience with multiple entities
- Proficiency in complex payroll systems
- Minimum of 5 years of management experience
- Union experience is required
- BA Degree is preferred
- CPP is preferred
