Job Description
The Facilities Assistant Manager supports the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of campus facilities for a higher education institution. This role assists with supervising facilities operations, coordinating maintenance activities, and supporting a safe, clean, and functional campus environment. This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates seeking to begin a career in facilities or campus operations, with training and development provided.
Job Responsibilities
  • Operations & Maintenance
    • Assist in managing daily facilities operations across academic buildings, residence halls, administrative offices, and shared campus spaces
    • Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
    • Support work order management, scheduling, and prioritization of service requests
    • Assist with space setup for events, exams, and campus functions
    Leadership & Staff Support
    • Support supervision, training, and day-to-day direction of facilities staff and vendors
    • Assist with scheduling, timekeeping, and performance feedback
    • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and customer service
    Client & Campus Engagement
    • Serve as a point of contact for campus stakeholders, faculty, and administrators
    • Participate in walkthroughs, inspections, and service quality reviews
    • Respond professionally to service issues and assist with resolution
    Compliance, Safety & Quality
    • Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, fire/life safety, and local/state regulations
    • Assist with safety training, incident reporting, and risk mitigation
    • Ensure alignment with institutional policies and service standards
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor?s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related field
  • New graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Internship, co-op, or hands-on experience in facilities, maintenance, engineering, or operations preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Ability to learn building systems and operational processes
