Behavioral Interventionist
1.0 FTE
Summary :
The Behavioral Interventionist leads all behavioral interventions at the building level. Provides coaching and data analysis for all building staff and principal and works collaboratively with the school social worker(s) and district SEL coordinator.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for PreK-12:
- Provide direct instruction to small groups of students related to emotional regulation, problem-solving with peers, identifying emotions, etc.
- Implement and monitor a behavior support system that uses data (eduClimber) to inform schoolwide structures/procedures, small group formations, and individual student plans.
- Create and implement an individualized behavior/regulation plan.
- Ongoing collaboration with the special education team regarding student plans, problem-solving, and keeping them up-to-date on student progress.
- Examine, develop, and implement consistent lunchroom and recess practices/procedures; review with staff; attend recess/lunch frequently.
- Connect with bus drivers, monitor bus behavior, and respond to bus referrals.
- Monitor attendance, assist with solving absenteeism concerns through relationships; send letter notifications, and make truancy referrals.
- Provide weekly updates to the building principal (SEL team) on student progress.
- Ability to build connections and trust with students and families.
- Attend grade-level PLC meetings monthly to review student wellness/behavior data.
- Communicate effectively with parents of students on behavior plans.
- Leading professional learning related to SEL initiatives
- Manage minor discipline and implement restorative practices
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, Counseling Certificate, or Social Work license preferred. Previous experience with behavior intervention and students requiring additional support and services related to social-emotional learning. Experience with trauma-informed practices. Possession of skills in strategic long and short-term planning, communication, and strong, focused leadership.
Education and/or Experience:
A Bachelor's required, Master's degree is preferred. Experience with positive behavior support, restorative justice approaches, trauma-informed/sensitive practices, mindfulness, self-regulation, and resilience training preferred.
