Pay: $25.80 - $38.70 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option
Summary:
Assists eye care providers in the care of patients and flow of clinical activities. Ensures proper care and usage of medical instruments.
Responsibilities:
* Under the direct supervision of a provider, assists with performing patient care. Demonstrate advanced proficiency in performing ophthalmic core competencies.
* Performs clinical assignments and additional duties from clinical supervisor. Responsible for reviewing clinical schedules for assignments and coverage and reports any discrepancies to the clinical coordinator and/or clinical supervisor.
* Assists with minor procedures and prescription refill process under the direction of provider. Staff resource and mentor. Instructs or coordinates courses to students, staff and residents.
* Performs documentation, patient education and enters charges. Assists with the flow of patient care.
* Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Requirements:
* Certified Ophthalmic Assistant
Certified Ophthalmic Tech
National Contact Lens Examiner Certification
Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist
* High School diploma or GED. Completion of UCHealth preceptor course.
Required Licensure/Certification: Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or National Contact Lens Examiner Certification (NCLEC) if performing as a contact lens technician.
* 3 years sponsored on the job ophthalmic training, or ophthalmic internship.
* BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
