Job Description
A quality technician is responsible for inspecting and testing products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure they meet established quality standards, identifying any defects or non-conformances, and reporting issues to relevant stakeholders while working to maintain compliance with industry regulations; their key tasks include conducting visual inspections, using specialized testing equipment, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to address quality concerns
Responsibilities: Product inspection:
Performing visual and dimensional checks on incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods to identify defects or deviations from specifications. Testing procedures:
Conducting standardized tests using appropriate equipment like calipers, micrometers, gauges, and specialized testing machines to verify product quality. Data collection and analysis:
Recording inspection results, documenting non-conformances, and analyzing data to identify trends or recurring quality issues. Quality control reporting:
Generating detailed reports on inspection findings, including non-conforming items, to inform production teams and quality management. Problem-solving:
Investigating root causes of quality issues, proposing corrective actions, and collaborating with production personnel to implement improvements. Calibration and maintenance:
Ensuring proper calibration of testing equipment and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Compliance monitoring:
Adhering to established quality standards, industry regulations, and company procedures. Required skills:
Attention to detail:
Ability to carefully examine products and identify even minor defects. Analytical skills:
Capability to interpret data, analyze trends, and draw accurate conclusions. Technical knowledge:
Understanding of quality control methods, testing procedures, and relevant measurement tools. Communication skills:
Effective communication with production teams, quality management, and other stakeholders to report issues and collaborate on solutions. Problem-solving abilities:
Identifying the root cause of quality issues and proposing effective solutions. Work environment:
Manufacturing facilities, production lines, or quality labs. May involve standing for extended periods, working with hand tools and testing equipment.
