Perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support physicians and keep office operations running smoothly.
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Practice Manager/ Clinic Supervisor
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Collect basic patient intake and vitals
- Perform necessary point of care testing
- Document all patient visits and communication in EMR properly
- Performs capillary blood draws, newborn screens, dental varnish, and routine hearing and vision screens
- Properly administer oral medication as directed by the provider
- Handles refills/ referrals/ authorizations
- Answer back line phone calls as needed as well as accurately chart phone calls and initiate proper follow through
- Perform necessary cleaning duties maintaining an orderly work environment and ensure an adequate stock of medical supplies
- Responsible for all incoming school/day care forms for the assigned provider
- Ethical conduct, confidentiality, and collaboration with the healthcare team are expected and considered essential elements of this position
- Regular & prompt attendance on agreed upon daily and weekly start and end time
- Can maintain physical demands and work environment as listed below
Education & Experience
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CMA Certification and/ or 6 months Medical Assistant experience
Preferred
- CPR Certification
- Knowledge of EMR software
Physical Demands & Work Environment Requirements This job will require exposure to patient elements. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. May work in a noisy or distracting environment. This job will require exposure to patient elements.
Expected Hours of Work The core hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. but can vary depending on location. This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on location.
Covid/ Flu Considerations If requested by any patient, then staff is required to wear a surgical mask. Patients are strongly encouraged to wear a mask if they are experiencing any acute respiratory symptoms or have a fever. Employees who are not flu-vaccinated will be required to wear a mask in all patient facing areas from September 1 to March 1st unless dates are modified due to clinical factors (unusual epidemic patterns, etc).
