Understanding of static and dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) Experience using AI coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Amazon CodeWhisperer) for code generation, debugging, and refactoringBasic understanding of prompt engineering for security-focused AI tools and LLM-based code analysisTechnical ExposureBasic experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure preferred) Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker or Kubernetes
Exposure to AI/ML or LLM-based tools used for automation/coding/operationsAI & AIOps ExposureFamiliarity with AI/ML concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning, NLP, and LLM architectures as they apply to security automationExposure to AIOps platforms or concepts such as AI-driven monitoring, intelligent alerting, predictive analytics for infrastructure, and automated remediationUnderstanding of AI security risks including prompt injection, model evasion, data poisoning, and adversarial machine learningExperience or coursework involving AI-powered coding/security tools Familiarity with LLM-based code review and vulnerability analysis workflowsCompliance & Security KnowledgeFamiliarity with federal security frameworks such as: NIST 800-53 FedRAMP FISMA Academic or project-based experience is acceptable. Learning & Development OpportunitiesDuring the internship, the selected candidate will: Work alongside senior security engineers and certified professionals (CISSP/CISM level) Gain exposure to federal Authorization to Operate (ATO) processes Build hands-on experience with DevSecOps pipelines and security automation tools Develop a portfolio of secure government-grade engineering work Learn best practices for secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) in federal environments Expected OutcomesBy the end of the internship, the candidate will have: Contributed to AI-assisted SAST integration within the secure pipeline Helped document two NIST 800-53 / FedRAMP-aligned security implementation patterns Supported automation improvements that reduce manual security review overhead by approximately 10-15% Career Path Opportunity:This internship is designed to support Alpha Omega's long-term talent pipeline.
