Join us as we chart our course with our core values, Compassion, Honesty, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork.Position Overview This position is responsible for food preparation according to program guidelines, orienting and directing volunteers, guiding culinary externs and Dietetic interns for any food preparation, cleaning or other kitchen tasks, and being a good steward of the mission and work we do in the kitchen and Food Bank overall. Reporting to the Meal Production Manager, this position is highly visible internally and externally and requires manual labor as well as solid relationship management skills. Relationships As a member of the food production team and reporting to the Meal Production Manager, this position interfaces with internal food bank team members and external volunteers. This position requires proven and demonstrated professionalism, effective communication skills, and collaboration to achieve meal production goals. Your Qualifications 3+ year's food service experience and/or completion of a culinary arts programHigh School Diploma or equivalent requiredFood Handler required or complete upon hireAbility to work effectively with food bank staff, volunteers, and vendors with a positive attitude High volume food production experienceAbility to work in a fast paced environmentMaintain a positive attitude while working closely with othersExperience working with and providing direction to volunteers preferredBelief in CTFB's mission, vision, values and cultureDisplay a willingness and desire to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds. Display a commitment to service above all else.Your Responsibilities Assist the Meal Production Chef in preparing bulk meal production for food-related programs such as children's programs, senior programs, and medically tailored meals (food is medicine). Ensure that meals are prepared, portioned, packaged and labeled accuratelyPerforms prep work such as washing, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetablesEnsure all kitchen equipment, tools, work tables & environment are maintained in a clean & sanitary state according to health standardsComply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standardsFollow procedures for waste management including recycling policies and proceduresMonitor regular inventory (chemicals, food, etc.) and notify the meal production manager when par levels are down and orders need to be replacedEnsure all refrigerated equipment is properly logged & monitored reporting any deficiencies to the supervisorAssist with closing, washing dishes, collecting garbage/trash, sweeping and mopping the floorFollow recipes and work in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen teamAssist in the preparation of reports, data gathering, and completion of goals, metrics and deadlines.Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested.Commit to supporting CTFB's mission, vision, values, and culturePerform additional duties as necessary and/or requested.Working ConditionsHours of Operation: Generally Monday - Friday 7:00 am- 4:00 pm, some evening and weekend hours may be required, especially during peak times, disaster response, or holidaysEnvironment: This position works in a fast paced kitchen setting with hot surfaces and moving parts. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing and/or bending, lifting; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use. The noise is the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Time spend in refrigerated and frozen areas.Travel: CTFB serves 21 counties in Central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meeting for some positions.
