* Drives improvement in capacity management and patient flow. * Develops, implements, and sustains efforts to improve patient flow in partnership with Patient Care Service Leadership and the Project Manager. * Coordinates, collaborates, and communicates with administration, physicians, nursing management staff, patient and support services, and external agencies to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care. * Communicates with Nurse Leaders and the staffing office to inform and assist in resource allocation. * Serves as the on-site administrative resource for the facility during evenings, weekends, nights, holidays, and other designated time periods. * Responds to organizational emergencies and issues and escalates issues per policies as needed. * Facilitates and coordinates bed meetings to support patient flow and resource allocation. * Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety and capacity management initiatives. * Performs all other related duties as assigned.
*Work Experience * Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
* Ability to think critically, develop, plan, and organize projects. * Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. * Ability to use computer systems/programs to manage clinical/administrative data. * Previous experience with scheduling of staff for a large unit. * Exceptional clinical expertise in Medical Surgical and Critical Care Nursing. * General understanding of data collection and analysis. * General understanding of financials for a hospital unit.
Education & Experience:
* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a 4-year / Bachelor's degree (Required) * Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or eligibility through reciprocity (Required) * Five (5) years of experience in a clinical setting (Required) * BLS Certification (Required) * 0-1 year of clinical expertise in nursing specialty areas. (Preferred) * 6-9 years of experience in a supervisory or lead clinical role. (Preferred)
