Working Title - Adjunct Faculty - Information Technology Agency - Northern VA Community College Division - NV280-Provost Information and Engineering Technologies Work Location - Multiple Locations Hiring Range - Adjunct faculty are paid a per credit hour rate. The per credit hour rate is determined by the assigned rank and discipline taught. Assigned rank is determined by both education and teaching experience. Work Schedule - Varies according to class schedules Sensitive Position - No Job Description - Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in the designated discipline/field of study to students from a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences. Teaching may include a variety of formats: face to face, remote, and online. Adjunct faculty are employed to teach up to 12 credit hours in the fall and spring semester and/or up to 8 credit hours during summer session. Teaching load is based on student enrollment and staffing needs. The adjunct faculty contract contains no expectation or guarantee of continued employment. Duties and Tasks:Teach specific classes in the designated discipline.Develop course syllabi and instructional materials.Maintain records, assign grades, and assess student progress.Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations ofNOVAand theVCCS.Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization. Special Assignments - May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. KSA's/Required Qualifications - KSA'sAdept knowledge of instructional technologiesExcellent interpersonal skillsExellent analytical skillsExcellent oral/written communication skillsAbility to work with a diverse student populationAbility to use instructional technologyRequired Qualifications:Master's degree in the teaching field or master's degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours of coursework in the teaching field. Qualifying academic degrees and coursework must be awarded by and/or completed with a regionally accredited institution.A minimum of two years of full-time, related occupational experience. Part-time occupational experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent. Additional Considerations - Additional Considerations:Industry certifications in ITPrior experience teaching in higher educationExperience teaching in classroom, hybrid, and online formats.Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive working and learning environment.Experience teaching students from diverse language backgrounds and varying levels of proficiency.
