Medical Assistant-Certified Walk-in: This 0.0 FTE/Per Diem position is scheduled to work 10-HR day shifts.
Compensation: Medical Assistant-Certified (Nationally Certified): Non-exempt $26.56/HR-$37.75/HR Medical Assistant (Washington State Certified only): Non-exempt $24.45/HR-$34.92/HR

Job SummaryServes as an integral member of the clinic team efficiently performs back office duties including effectively monitoring and managing the flow of patients, greeting and rooming patients, documenting patient histories, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with examinations and procedures. Works in close partnership with and under the direction of a physician/provider.
Job Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonitors and manages the flow of patients to maximize physicians time, reduce delays, and facilitate a positive patient experience.
Takes initial patient history accurately documents vital signs and complaints in the patients medical record.
Prepares the patient and room for examination or procedure by the physician.
Assists the physician with examinations and procedures. Performs phlebotomy and necessary laboratory testing or prepares specimens and orders outside laboratory testing. Performs radiological exams and EKG procedures as ordered by the physician.
Cleans patient room after visit and after procedure. Scrubs rinses and places used instruments in disinfectant tray after each patient. Properly autoclaves instruments or prepares them to be autoclaved at the hospital.
Calls or faxes in prescriptions and handles physicians call back on patient test results as directed.
Monitors and maintains equipment in good working order. Maintains medical stock to include obtaining purchase order numbers and maintains drug and medical supply inventory.
Completes all tasks and documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinates population health activities as needed including wellness visits care gap reporting and screenings.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Education and ExperienceOne year of experience working in a physicians office preferred.
Required Licenses Certifications and/or RegistrationsState of Washington certification as Medical Assistant Certification-required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or within 180 days of hire.
Medical Assistants without a national certification remain eligible for 48410 Additional requirements for Medical Assistant-Certified 48409 include:
- Current State of Washington Medical Assistant-Certification (CM)
- Current medical assistant certification through one of the following: American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) American Medical Technologists (AMT) National Health Career Association (NHA) National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Working knowledge of medical assistant functions clinical standards and clinic practices and procedures. Ability to distinguish emergency patient situations. Knowledge and understanding of age related care as needed for pediatric adult and geriatric patients with the ability to provide patient care that is appropriate to the age and development status of the patient. Knowledge of medical terminology and medical ethics Strong communication skills: ability to communicate verbally and in writing to a variety of audiences. Ability to listen actively and respond to patients and coworkers in a timely appropriate manner both verbally and non-verbally. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with physicians coworkers patients and families. Ability to present a professional caring image and demeanor to patients and families. Ability to exercise good judgment use discretion and maintain confidentiality of privileged information and records. Ability to accept responsibility work independently prioritize and manage time and tasks effectively. Ability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under pressure. Adaptability: ability to learn understand and navigate work processes terminology and computer software systems. Ability to read understand and interpret information from a variety of sources and to understand and follow moderately complex instructions. Ability to perform basic math functions.
