Veterinary Referral Manager

Description:
Pieper Veterinary is seeking a Veterinary Referral Manager to support growth and strengthen relationships with referring veterinarians across Connecticut. This role is responsible for developing new referral partnerships, expanding engagement with existing referring practices, and maintaining strong relationships with high-volume referral partners across Specialty, Emergency (ER), and Urgent Care (UC) services.

This is a relationship-driven role that blends business development, clinical collaboration, and service excellence. The Veterinary Referral Manager works closely with hospital leadership, medical directors, referral support staff, and marketing partners to ensure an exceptional experience for referring doctors, clients, and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain, and grow referral relationships for the Specialty, ER, and UC departments and locations with external referring veterinarians and internal GP departments and locations.
• Drive growth through new referral partnerships and increased engagement from existing referral practices.
• Serve as a field-based representative for Specialty, ER, and UC services across CT.
• Plan and host CE events, hospital tours, and referral engagement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with:
  • Referral Liaison (referral calls and records coordination)
  • Local Marketing Business Manager
  • Medical Directors and Lead Doctors
  • Hospital Directors and Managers
• Gather and share referral feedback to improve referral workflows and service experience.
• Regional travel is required!

Schedule & Flexibility:
This is a salaried (exempt) position with a flexible schedule. Work hours typically average 40 45 hours per week and may vary based on referral activity and outreach events. Some evening or weekend availability is expected to support referral visits, CE events, and relationship engagement.

Scheduling may follow either 5 (8-hour) days, 4 (10-hour) days or a combination of those on average, depending on regional needs and event timing.

Compensation:
$68,000-$78,000/ a year depending on experience.

Qualifications:

• 3 5+ years of experience in veterinary medicine, referral management, business development, or relationship-based roles preferred.
• Bachelors degree preferred
• Strong understanding of Veterinary Specialty, ER, UC, and GP environments.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working independently in the field while collaborating with multi-site leadership teams.
• Willingness and ability to travel regionally within Connecticut.
