We are seeking a highly capable, hands-on IT professional to serve as the lead technology resource for a growing, professional services firm. This individual will operate as an individual contributor, owning day-to-day IT operations while partnering closely with leadership to ensure systems are secure, reliable, and aligned with business needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, can move seamlessly between strategy and execution, and is comfortable acting as a one-person IT function supported by external vendors.

Responsibilities Serve as the escalation point for complex, business-critical issues beyond the outsourced helpdesk (L2/L3). Troubleshoot and resolve urgent system, user, and access-related challenges. Improve the quality, responsiveness, and accountability of outsourced IT support. Manage and optimize Azure-based infrastructure, including networking, virtual machines, storage, and backup/disaster recovery. Support deployment and integration of cloud-based data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake. Oversee identity and access management using Entra ID / Azure AD. Implement governance, security, and compliance controls within the Azure environment. Own and continuously strengthen the firm’s security posture across endpoints, cloud systems, and data. Develop and enforce policies related to access control, data handling, and device management. Ensure alignment with client confidentiality standards and industry expectations. Oversee relationships with managed service providers (MSP), security partners (MSSP), and other IT vendors. Evaluate, select, and implement new tools across security, data, and productivity. Manage full system lifecycle from selection through implementation and ongoing maintenance. Translate business needs into practical, scalable technology solutions. Build processes and infrastructure appropriate for a high-performing, detail-oriented professional services environment. Develop and execute a forward-looking IT roadmap that supports growth and operational excellence. Ideal Experience 7–10 years of progressive IT experience, with strong hands-on technical depth Bachelor’s degree required. Proven experience in professional services environments (e.g., legal, healthcare, consulting). Background supporting smaller office environments with broad ownership across systems and infrastructure. Deep experience with Microsoft Azure required. Strong understanding of security best practices and experience working with sensitive/confidential data. Demonstrated ability to manage vendors and operate independently with minimal oversight. Polished, professional presence with the ability to interact confidently with senior leadership and clients. Highly organized, responsive, and solutions-oriented. Comfortable balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution. Strong judgment, discretion, and attention to detail.
