Position Summary Chatham Area Transit Authority (CAT) is seeking a skilled and service-oriented IT Technician to provide comprehensive technical support for desktop systems, peripherals, software, and hardware across the organization. This role directly supports CAT’s operational and administrative objectives by ensuring reliable technology performance and responsive end-user support. The IT Technician will collaborate closely with CAT’s Managed Service Provider (MSP) and internal departments to maintain system integrity, troubleshoot issues, and implement technology solutions that enhance organizational efficiency. This is a non-exempt position. Key Responsibilities Provide desktop support for all CAT users, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software systems Diagnose and repair equipment failures; replace components as necessary Educate users on proper system usage and basic maintenance practices Collaborate with departmental staff and MSP to ensure optimal IT service delivery Perform system upgrades to maintain compatibility and performance standards Test and evaluate new hardware and software prior to deployment Maintain inventory and recommend purchases for hardware and software Assess departmental technology needs and recommend solutions to improve efficiency Support mobile device management systems, including IBM MaaS360, and iOS platforms Participate in the implementation and ongoing support of enterprise systems Technical Competencies Knowledge of computer operations, information systems standards, and IT service practices Understanding of system design concepts, hardware configurations, and network fundamentals Proficiency in: Windows Operating Systems PC-based software applications Mobile Device Management (MDM), particularly IBM MaaS360 iOS device support Ability to troubleshoot system errors and software installation issues Basic knowledge of database programming concepts (preferred) Minimum Qualifications Associate’s degree in Information xywuqvp Technology, Computer Science, or related field (Bachelor’s preferred) CompTIA A+ Certification or equivalent certification preferred 2–5 years of experience in IT support or a similar technical role Demonstrated experience in hardware/software troubleshooting and system installation Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with external vendors Willingness to learn new technologies and systems Physical Requirements Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to perform hands-on technical tasks, including equipment installation and repair Code :
