À propos
Working within the Healthcare & Medical Services department, you will screen referrals, verify admission criteria, and align patients with the right setting—such as acute care, specialty units, rehabilitation, home health, or senior living—while upholding Sanford Health’s standards for quality and compassionate care. You will use evidence-based guidelines, payer requirements, and organizational policies to support admission decisions, document clinical findings in the electronic medical record, and communicate clearly with internal teams and external partners.
The RN Clinical Admissions Specialist plays a key role in patient flow and bed management by monitoring capacity, coordinating with central intake and bed management teams, and anticipating potential barriers to admission. You will help minimize delays, reduce avoidable denials, and promote quality outcomes by ensuring that each patient is admitted to the most appropriate level of care. You will also educate patients and families about the admission process, services available, and expectations for care, providing a supportive, respectful, and empathetic experience during what can be a stressful transition.
Sanford Health offers a supportive and inclusive culture that values innovation, teamwork, and compassionate service. As an RN Clinical Admissions Specialist, you will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, participate in performance improvement initiatives, and contribute ideas that enhance access, safety, and patient satisfaction. You may be involved in developing and refining admission workflows, standardizing clinical review processes, and using data to identify trends in utilization and referrals.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication and customer-service skills, and comfort with technology and electronic systems. The ideal candidate has prior experience in acute care, case management, triage nursing, utilization review, or admissions coordination. Attention to detail, the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential. Sanford Health supports ongoing professional development and offers opportunities to grow into roles such as Clinical Care Leader, where you can lead teams and further influence patient care quality and safety across the organization.
