UCHealth is seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Travel RN for our Progressive Care Unit (PCU) within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. As a Travel RN PCU, you will provide complex, high-acuity care to adult patients who require close monitoring and advanced nursing interventions but do not need intensive care. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans, ensuring safe transitions of care and superior clinical outcomes. In this role, you will travel between UCHealth hospitals and affiliated facilities across Colorado based on organizational needs, adapting quickly to new environments, workflows, and teams while maintaining the highest standards of patient-centered care. Your daily responsibilities will include continuous cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, administration of IV medications and titratable drips within scope, management of oxygen therapy and non-invasive ventilation, interpretation of cardiac rhythms, early recognition of patient deterioration, and rapid response activation when indicated. You will perform head-to-toe assessments, document accurately in the electronic health record, and communicate clearly with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, case managers, and other members of the care team. You will educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions, supporting them through the stress of hospitalization and transitions of care. UCHealth fosters an innovative, diverse, and inclusive environment where RNs are empowered to practice at the top of their license. As a Travel RN PCU, you will be expected to follow evidence-based protocols and participate in quality and safety initiatives, including fall prevention, infection control, CLABSI and CAUTI reduction, and medication safety. You will precept and mentor newer staff when assigned, contribute to interdisciplinary rounds, and support continuous improvement efforts aimed at enhancing patient experience and outcomes. Strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, and excellent communication skills are essential as you manage varying patient loads, respond to changes in condition, and coordinate care across disciplines and sites. This position offers a competitive compensation package and comprehensive benefits along with paid travel assignments, differentials based on shift and location, and opportunities for professional development. You will have access to ongoing training, continuing education, and support for obtaining and maintaining specialty certifications in progressive care nursing. UCHealth encourages career growth through internal mobility, leadership development, and participation in shared governance councils and clinical practice committees. The ideal candidate is an experienced PCU or step-down Registered Nurse who is comfortable with fast-paced, high-acuity settings and can quickly integrate into diverse teams. You should be confident in cardiac rhythm interpretation, management of post-operative and medically complex patients, and the use of electronic health records and smart pump technology. Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to rotate among UCHealth facilities as needed, is required. By joining UCHealth as a Travel RN PCU, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional, patient-centered care while advancing your professional skills in a supportive and collaborative environment aligned with clinical excellence and continuous improvement.
