About the Role
LHH Recruitment Solutions is partnering with a well-established philanthropic foundation to identify an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant for a consulting opportunity based in New York City. This role requires four days per week onsite in Midtown Manhattan and is initially a 3+ month engagement, with the potential to convert to a permanent position for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle accounts payable, including high-volume invoice entry, coding, approvals, and employee expense and credit card transactions
- Prepare and process weekly payment runs (ACH, wire, and checks), ensuring proper approvals and timely distribution
- Maintain and manage vendor records, including vendor setup, W-9s, banking details, and vendor updates
- Reconcile vendor statements and the AP subledger to the general ledger; investigate and resolve discrepancies and inquiries
- Maintain accurate accounts payable aging reports
- Support month-end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit support
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules; assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects
- Collaborate with internal departments and vendors to ensure timely and accurate processing
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of hands-on accounts payable experience
- Prior nonprofit industry experience strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs
- Experience with SAP, Sage Intacct, Fund EZ, or similar accounting systems
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Proactive, adaptable, and open to learning new systems and processes
- Consulting position (3+ months) with potential to convert to a permanent role
Pay Details: $32.00 to $39.00 per hour
