As a Level 3 Support Technician at CST Training, you will provide advanced technical support across our IT infrastructure, hardware, and network estate. Working closely with the wider IT team, you will tackle escalated issues that go beyond first- and second-line support, take ownership of complex problems, and play a hands-on role in maintaining the systems our employees and learners rely on every day. This role suits an experienced technician who enjoys variety — from diagnosing Linux server issues to terminating Ethernet cables and fixing hardware faults.
*Essential Duties & Responsibilities*
* Provide third-line technical support to CST Training employees and customers, resolving issues escalated from lower support tiers.
* Manage and maintain TP-Link Omada network infrastructure, including switches, access points, and controllers.
* Administer and troubleshoot Linux servers, including routine maintenance, updates, and incident response.
* Manage hosted server infrastructure on platforms such as Hetzner, including provisioning, configuration, and monitoring.
* Deploy and manage containerised applications using Portainer.
* Administer and maintain MySQL databases, including backups, user management, and basic performance tuning.
* Support and manage ChromeOS devices across the organisation.
* Diagnose and repair hardware faults across desktops, laptops, and peripheral equipment.
* Create, terminate, test, and run Ethernet cabling for new installations and repairs.
* Document configurations, procedures, and incident resolutions to build and maintain the internal knowledge base.
* Identify recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions to improve system stability.
* Work collaboratively with other departments to support IT projects and rollouts
*Education, Skills & Experience*
* Proven experience in a third-line or senior support role.
* Solid understanding of basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, subnetting).
* Hands-on experience with Omada or similar managed network platforms (e.g. Ubiquiti, Cisco Meraki).
* Practical experience administering Linux servers (Debian, or similar) via the command line.
* Experience supporting and managing ChromeOS devices, including the Google Admin Console.
* Strong hardware troubleshooting and repair skills across PCs, laptops, and peripherals.
* Confident creating and running Ethernet cables, including terminating RJ45 connectors and testing cable runs.
* Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
* Strong communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users.
* Ability to manage multiple tickets and prioritise effectively under pressure.
*Nice to Haves*
* Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+, LPIC-1, or equivalent.
* Familiarity with Docker beyond Portainer (CLI, Compose, building images).
* Basic understanding of JavaScript and Bash for reading, tweaking, and writing simple scripts.
* Experience with hosting platforms such as Hetzner (or DigitalOcean, Linode, AWS EC2) for provisioning and managing remote servers.
* Hands-on experience with Portainer for managing Docker containers and stacks.
* Working knowledge of MySQL, including basic administration, queries, backups, and user management.
* Knowledge of firewall configuration and network security best practices.
* Experience working in an EdTech or training environment.
* Full UK driving licence (for occasional travel to other sites).

*Physical Demands & Working Conditions*
* 5 Days per week office-based role (Bexley DA5 1JX)
* Hands-on work involving lifting and moving IT equipment, including servers, switches, and cabling.
* Occasional work in confined spaces (e.g. comms cabinets, ceiling voids, under desks) when running cables or installing hardware.
* Use of hand tools for cable termination and minor hardware repairs.
* Occasional travel may be required to support other sites.
Pay: £28,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
