Shift: 2nd Shift (The "Sunset Squad")
The Mission
While the rest of the world is winding down, the Green Team is just getting started. As our Lead Diesel Mechanic for the 2nd Shift, you are the guardian of the fleet. When the trucks roll back into the yard after a hard day’s work, you and your team are the pit crew that gets them back into fighting shape for tomorrow morning.
This isn't just a "fix-it" job—it’s a leadership role where you run the floor, mentor the crew, and ensure that when the sun comes up, our fleet is 100% mission-ready.
💰 Shift Differential: Earn more just for working the evening hours. $2 shift differential plus increase in pay based on experience and certifications.
🛠️ Lead from the Front: You get the autonomy to run the shop without the "corporate" daytime crowd looking over your shoulder.
💸 Tool & Boot Allowances: We invest in your gear so you can focus on the grit. $150 tool allowance and yearly boot allowance.
🏥 Top-Tier Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) / RRSP match that actually helps you build a future.
🚀 Career Trajectory: Being a Lead at GFL is the fast track to becoming a Shop Manager.
Command the Shop: Lead a team of technicians through the evening rush. You’re the go-to person for tough diagnostics and "how-do-we-fix-this" moments.
The "Pit Boss": Prioritize incoming repair orders. You decide which trucks hit the line first to ensure a seamless morning rollout.
Heavy-Duty Excellence: From engine overhauls to hydraulic failures, you’ll lead by example—turning wrenches on the big stuff while supervising the routine stuff.
Quality Control: You’re the final set of eyes. You ensure every repair is done right, done safe, and documented perfectly.
Safety Captain: Keep the energy high but the risks low. You’ll maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment during the hustle of the night shift.
The Experience: 5+ years of heavy-duty diesel experience with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or "Lead Tech" capacity.
System Mastery: You’re a pro with Cummins, Mack, or Detroit engines and can navigate hydraulic schematics in your sleep.
The Certification: CDL Class A or B is highly preferred (if you don't have it, we'll help you get it).
The Tools: You’ve got a professional-grade toolset and the knowledge to use every diagnostic computer in the shop.
Communication: You can translate "engine talk" into clear instructions for your team and reports for the Maintenance Manager.
