CDL-A Local Driver

Meijer is seeking a safety-focused CDL-A Local Driver to join our Transportation & Logistics team, supporting our network of supercenters that provide groceries, apparel, electronics, and home goods across the Midwest. As a local driver, you will play a key role in keeping our shelves stocked and ensuring our customers have the products they need, when they need them. You will operate late-model equipment on primarily local and regional routes, returning home daily while representing Meijer’s culture of respect, diversity, inclusion, teamwork, and outstanding customer service. In this role, you will safely operate a CDL-A tractor-trailer to transport freight between Meijer distribution centers and retail stores, following all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies. You will complete thorough pre- and post-trip inspections, maintain accurate electronic logs, and follow all Hours-of-Service rules. You will be responsible for the safe loading, unloading, and securing of freight, using pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment as needed, while protecting product quality and following food-handling and safety standards. You will back into busy docks, navigate store lots and local streets, and practice defensive driving at all times to protect yourself, the public, and Meijer property. As a CDL-A Local Driver at Meijer, you will interact regularly with distribution center and store teams, demonstrating professionalism, clear communication, and a customer-first mindset. You will verify paperwork and manifests, report discrepancies or issues, and communicate delays, equipment concerns, or safety hazards promptly. You will work closely with dispatch and transportation leadership to follow assigned routes and schedules, adjusting as needed to meet service and delivery expectations while managing your time effectively. You will also help support continuous improvement by following established procedures and suggesting practical ideas that enhance safety, efficiency, or customer satisfaction.
